An eye-withness report from the perspective of a streetlight at a busy intersection.

I have been on for over two hours now. Green for the cars, pedestrians slowly fill the sidewalk. Their bodies turned away from the rainy windflaws. Someone on a bike quickly fits herself between two waves of cars, some of the other bikers seem hesitant whether they should follow her example. They wait. Two of them are wearing rain jackets, only one man is not covering his head, reflecting the light of the streetlight hanging above him. I wonder why everyone takes this busy road, is it because of me? When the traffic light turns green, the bikes and scooters cross the road under me in a line, scooters in front, a young woman ending the line. No oncoming traffic. I shine on the traffic sign and together we create a shadow splitting the zebra path in two, a right and a left. The young woman slows down. Then she carefully steers the bike onto the slanted slab of pavement and onto the sidewalk. I know where she is going. She approaches one of my companions, she always picks the same. Her leg swings over the frame of her bike and in a calm movement she reaches the pavement with both her feet and walks further into its light. A yellow/blue bike is locked to the pole. She slows down her paste. She seems hesitant. When she lifts the back of her bike and tosses it next to the bike she seems slightly frustrated. She bows over the steer and switches of the little white light on front. Then turns to her left, takes one step and reaches for the small red light. Lastly, uses both her hands to pull the key out of her bike, wipes her hair from her face and quickly walks in a straight line towards the building near her.
